Consolidated Copper Corp (CCC) has appointed Tim Flynn as Head of Group Security and Robert O’Neill as Chief Compliance Officer to support the company’s operations and growth in Namibia. These appointments underscore CCC’s commitment to safe, secure, and responsible mining practices.
In Q4, 2024, CCC – formed in 2022 by CEO John Sisay and a team of highly experienced natural resource executives – successfully restarted the processing of LME A Grade copper cathode at its Tschudi operation for the first time in four years, marking the beginning of the plans to rejuvenate the nation’s copper industry through job creation, skills development and sustainable mineral beneficiation.
Announcing the new appointments, John Sisay, CEO, said:
“As the scope, scale and opportunity of our operations grows, so must our operational security and compliance across everything we do. I am delighted to welcome Tim Flynn and Robert O’Neill to CCC; their experience will be critical in ensuring we continue upholding our commitments to our employees, to the local communities, to the Namibian government and taxpayers, and to our investors.
“Namibia has the potential to rival the great copper mines of the Central African Copper Belt and CCC will support this, safely, securely and responsibly, aiming not just to meet but to exceed national and international regulations and standards”.
Tim Flynn brings more than 30 years of federal, state, and local law enforcement experience in the United States. He served with the FBI as a Special Agent in Miami, Florida, and was a member of the Hostage Rescue Team in Quantico, Virginia. He served as the FBI Counterterrorist Representative to the Australian government for the Sydney 2000 Olympics, as well as three other Olympic Games and major events. He was also the FBI’s Legal Attaché to the Nordic countries and retired as an Executive in the FBI’s Charlotte, North Carolina, field office. Tim has led Executive Protection teams for top executives and board members in the United States, Asia, Africa, and South America.
In his new role Tim will be responsible for overseeing and managing all security operations to protect the CCC assets, employees, and facilities.
On his appointment, Tim Flynn said:
“I am excited to be working with John and everyone at CCC, from the offices to the mine sites and all points in between, to develop and implement best practice in our security policies, procedures, and protocols, ensuring compliance with all legal and industry standards. My experience in complex environments, from landmark locations to international events, will help us create tailored solutions for every setting”.
Mr Flynn will be working closely with CCC’s new Chief Compliance Officer, Robert (‘Bobby’) O’Neill. Bobby has extensive experience as a trial lawyer, investigator, crisis manager, and leader, including public service as an Associate Independent Counsel in the Office of Independent Counsel in Washington, D.C., where his primary responsibility was as trial counsel in a case involving allegations of public corruption. Additionally, he was assigned to the role of Deputy Chief in Charge of Litigation of the Narcotic and Dangerous Drug Section at the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.
Bobby will be responsible for ensuring CCC operates in accordance with all legal, regulatory, and ethical standards. He will design and implement the vital compliance programmes to mitigate risks and promote transparency throughout the company’s operations.
Bobby O’Neill said on his appointment:
“I’m proud to join CCC, a company grounded in strong ethical principles. We will develop not only the necessary legal and governance frameworks, but the right mindset and corporate behaviours to set new standards for the mining industry.”
John Sisay added:
“With Tim and Bobby joining CCC, we’re strengthening our team with deep experience and proven leadership. Alongside impeccable credentials in their respective fields, they are both accomplished businesspeople, with track records of aligning multiple legal entities and commercial organisations with their obligations and stakeholder responsibilities. As we approach key milestones, I’m confident we’re better positioned than ever to deliver on our vision of Responsible Copper.”
